You know... I fear for the future of our nation. I truly do. Some cops getting overly aggressive, people ATTACKING the police in the streets, riots, religious extremists fighting guerrilla warfare across the world, children and teachers being murdered in schools, malls being attacked, hate groups [both white and black] becoming more and more prominent, and now recruitment centers and military bases are being attacked...

I was born in 1990, and all throughout my childhood, I was raised to believe in America. I was raised to believe that we are one people, we are one community, we are one nation. I was taught that intolerance was abolished and that we accepted each other no matter our race, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, or beliefs. I was raised to believe that America was a true example, the pinnacle of human unity. I was lied to...

Ever since the start of the 2000's, I have watched this nation of unity deteriorate; become the polar opposite of the vision I was raised to see it in. Americans have become fearful, hate-filled, and paranoid. Our government is telling us to flinch when words are not completely adherent to the idea of "politically correct". People are again becoming deeply divided, in a way not seen since the last Civil War. And what scares me the most is not the terrorists, but a Second Civil War. What if it became so fractured, it became a Race War? I have black friends, Muslim friends, gay friends, hispanic friends, asian friends, white friends... What if my friends fell on opposing sides? How could I even FATHOM facing them on the battlefield?

The government and media continue to perpetuate this fear in multiple ways, and I can see how wrong this era has become. National Debt is unbelievably higher than even the last Great Depression, prices are rising while wages do not; the Upper Class society continues to grow while the Lower Class tears itself apart in fear, anger, and hate. Politicians no longer care about the people; they simply spout whatever bullshit their campaign directors tell them the people want to hear. Their promises are naught but empty shells wrapped in gold and silver.

We are, as a nation, falling apart. Similarly to how Rome fell. And this has me thinking; is this perhaps the inherent flaw of Democracy? Or is this the flaw of a government that no longer understands what it means to BE a government? In my eyes, a Democracy is a government built by the people to lead and protect its country. But the government is NOT the country itself. It is supposed to be a beacon of hope, the thing we look to for guidance and prosperity. But greed and competition has overflowed the hearts of politicians, and now government has become so bloated and paranoid themselves that they are trying to control how we think, how we should see each other and the world.

I don't want war, but as I watch this nation suffer, I cannot see any other future between a new Civil War, waged between either the government and the people, or between those who are not intelligent enough to see past their own prejudices. There is one future that awaits us if this continues; a Tyrannical government oppressing the people under the guise of Democracy. I will fight if I have to, but for no ideology other than my own. I will fight to create the nation I was raised to believe existed. I will fight and create a nation where people are indeed free to think for themselves, marry who they love, and pray to whatever God or Gods they believe in. I would create a government that passes laws based on Morality, not based on controlling the minds of the people.

I would see a true America be born.

I feel you bro. It's really awkward, personally being multiracial and polotically independent. It's like everyone wants you to choose but there shouldn't be sides. US being called the "free world" doesn't mean anything anymore. It's supposed to be this "great nation" but we don't even have officers of the law whi abide by those laws they're supposed to uphold. A person can't be held to their word anymore. People can't even get jobs, and it sucks. So much for all US was supposed to represent. :(
